This policy explains what information avelinagency.com collects, what it does not collect, and what happens to information you choose to send us. The website is operated by The Avelin Agency, a marketing and communications agency based in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Questions about this policy and requests about your information go to hello@avelinagency.com.

This policy covers the website only. Information handled during a client engagement is governed by the written agreement for that engagement.

1. The short version

This is a static informational website. It has no user accounts, no logins, no e-commerce, and it takes no payments. The only personal information it collects is what you choose to type into the contact form and submit. Those submissions are handled by Netlify, the company that hosts the website, and reach us by email. The site runs Google Analytics to measure how it is used, and that is the extent of the tracking.

2. What we collect through the contact form

The contact form is the one place on this website where you can send us personal information, and nothing is collected until you choose to submit it. When you do, we receive what you entered: your name, your business name, your email address, your phone number if you provide it, and the details you share about your business and what you are looking for.

Submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, our hosting provider, which delivers each one to us as an email notification. Netlify applies automated spam filtering to form submissions, which is provided by Akismet. We use what you submit for one purpose: to respond to your inquiry.

3. How your inquiry is handled and how long we keep it

Inquiry submissions reach us in two places. Netlify stores each submission in the form dashboard for our website, and a copy arrives in our inbox as email. Our email is hosted by Microsoft 365, so Microsoft processes and stores that mail on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments.

We keep inquiries for as long as we need them to handle your inquiry and maintain a record of our correspondence. We review stored submissions and email periodically and delete what is no longer needed. If you would like an inquiry deleted sooner, email hello@avelinagency.com and we will delete it from both places, unless we are required to keep it for a legal reason.

4. Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it: which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and what devices and browsers they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as your approximate location, device type, and pages visited. Google processes this information on our behalf.

We use this information only to understand and improve the website. We have not enabled advertising features, and we do not use analytics data for advertising or to build profiles of identifiable individuals. You can prevent Google Analytics from running by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available from Google, or by using a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts. The website works fully without it.

5. Hosting and server logs

The website is hosted by Netlify, which delivers its pages through a global content delivery network. Like nearly all web hosts, Netlify maintains standard server logs that may record technical details of each request, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested. These logs exist for security and operational purposes. We do not use them to identify visitors.

6. Cookies and local storage

Beyond the Google Analytics cookies described in Section 4, this website sets no advertising cookies and no other tracking cookies.

The website uses your browser's local storage for one narrow purpose: remembering images placed on a page during design review. No personal information is held there, nothing in it is transmitted to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

7. Third parties with access to information

A small number of service providers process information in the course of operating this website and our email. Netlify hosts the website, processes and stores contact form submissions, and maintains the server logs described in Section 5. Akismet screens form submissions for spam on Netlify's behalf. Microsoft 365 hosts our email, including the inquiry notifications we receive. Google processes analytics information as described in Section 4. Fonts on this website are served from the site itself and from Google Fonts; when a font loads from Google Fonts, your browser makes a request to Google's servers, which receive standard technical information such as your IP address.

We do not give anyone else access to inquiry information, and we do not combine it with data from other sources.

8. We do not sell or share your information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels on this website. We have no email marketing list, and sending us an inquiry does not subscribe you to anything.

9. Security

We keep the attack surface small by design. The website itself holds no visitor data; the only information it collects is contact form submissions, which are transmitted over an encrypted connection and held by Netlify and in our Microsoft 365 email under those providers' security controls. Access to the form dashboard and the inbox is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the information we hold.

10. Your rights and choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@avelinagency.com and we will respond within a reasonable time, and in any case within the time required by applicable law. Because the only personal information we typically hold from this website is your own inquiry email, these requests are usually simple to fulfill.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to access and correct it, the right to delete it, and the right to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. As stated in Section 8, we do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@avelinagency.com. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we will take reasonable steps to verify the request.

11. Children's privacy

This website is directed at business audiences. It is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@avelinagency.com and we will delete it.

12. International visitors

This website is operated from the United States and is directed at a United States audience. If you visit from outside the United States, any information you send us will be received and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. This website is not targeted at visitors in the European Union or the United Kingdom.

13. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this policy, post the revised version on this page, and update the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is material, such as adding a new analytics tool or a new way of collecting information, we will state it plainly here.
